About the Program
In 2012, Bayer launched the Global Ophthalmology Awards Program (GOAP) with the aim of advancing the scientific understanding and clinical management of retinal ophthalmic disorders. Through grants supporting research and training in ophthalmology, the program seeks to provide opportunities for treatment improvement and to encourage ophthalmologists to further develop their skills in the management of retinal disorders.
Dates and Deadlines
Thank you for your interest in applying for the GOAP. This program represents Bayer’s continuing commitment to taking the next steps to help people with ophthalmic diseases enjoy a better quality of life and better treatment options. Please note that priority will be given to research initiatives in the field of retinal disorders.
Applications will be processed solely through the Internet, and all applications must be submitted in English.
As a first step, applicants should submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) describing the proposed project in 500 or 800 words depending on the type of award you are applying for. All applicants who submit an LOI will receive an email confirming receipt.
LOIs will be reviewed by all members of the Grants Review and Awards Committee (GRAC). In some cases, additional information may be requested.
Selected applicants will be invited to submit a Full Proposal that will be reviewed by at least two members of the GRAC. These applicants will be emailed a Full Proposal application form.
The results of the review process and funding decisions will be communicated to applicants in July. Funded applicants must sign a letter of acceptance and enter into an agreement outlining obligations and understandings prior to disbursement of funds.
Awardees will be invited to attend an awards ceremony which will be held in the fall.
